Ludhiana, August 17, 2017 (Tarvinder Kaur): Govt. College for Girls, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Van-Mahotsav’. Students from different clubs like Environment Society, NSS, NCC and Rotract club participated. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Member Parliament, Ludhiana was the chief guest and Bharat Bhusan Ashu, M.L.A, Ludhaina (West), Sanjay Talwar, M.L.A, Ludhiana (East) were Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Principal, Dr. Mohinder Kaur Grewal accorded a warm welcome to the guests. On this occasion solar panel was started today in the college hostel. Tree plantation ceremony was inaugurated by the chief guest and more than fifty plantations were done by the members of the environment club. Ravneet Singh Bittu motivated the students to continue with the same efforts in future and appreciated the efforts of principal too.
While addressing the students college principal said that trees play an important role in one’s life and it is a precious jewel that we have to keep safe for the coming future generation. She motivated students to plant more and more trees to make our country a better living place. An oath was also taken by the students that they will always keep their campus clean and green.
Cultural programme was performed by students on the theme of save trees, save environment and save life. On this occasion members of staff council and other members also present on the occasion. Poster making competition was also held on the occasion, Kajal, Aanchal Gupta and Harman Kaur got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively, while Ruchika Dhiman got consolation prize.
