| Expert demonstrating application of fire extinguishers during workshop |
Ludhiana, August 17, 2017 (Tarvinder Kaur): Department of Chemistry, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a workshop on fire safety in association with Cease Fire Industries Limited today. Jag Mohan and Rishabh Shrivastav delivered lecture cum demonstration for the application of fire extinguishers.
Fire is the most common hazard which can occur with the electrical equipments or from flammable liquids while working in the laboratories. So, proper training to exercise fire extinguishers is mandatory to minimize the chances of accidental fires. Students were taught to employ fire extinguishers in case of fire emergency instead of creating a panic in such situations. These devices can prevent the risks of small fires leading to emergency situations. Awareness of its use can prevent the threat to life as well as property.
Principal Dr. Mukti Gill thanked the team of Cease Fire Industries Ltd. for their commendable manifestation and encouraged the students to apply the knowledge they have gained from this workshop. She also applauded the efforts of Chemistry Department to organize such beneficial programs.
