Ludhiana, August 31, 2017 (Tarvinder Kaur): Post Graduate department of History of Khalsa College for Women, civil lines in Ludhiana organized an extension lecture by Dr. Ram Singh Gurna, Head of the Department, A.S College Khanna on ‘The Trauma of Partition of 1947’.
Dr. Singh in his lecture highlighted that how on August 14-15, 1947, the British Raj ended and India got independence but this freedom came at a price. The Partition of India resulted in one of the greatest convulsions in human history. Communities were split, families separated and neighbours once living side by side in harmony divided along sectarian lines.
Principal Dr. Mukti Gill thanked the guest and appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing such events as this topic still holds relevance in the present times and through it one could understand the great divide between India and Pakistan.
