Ludhiana, July 21, 2017 (Online News Ludhiana): Teej Festival was celebrated in the premises of Everest Public Sr. Sec. School, Moti Nagar in Ludhiana today. Rajinder Sharma, Director, Everest Group of Schools was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
The students of different classes celebrated it with great pomp and show. They came in the traditional Punjabi dresses. Tiny tots presented a colourful program of Songs and Dance. The Tiny-Tots dressed in gaudy dresses presented a charming show. The girl’s students also enjoyed dance and they were seen overjoyed.
Asha Sharma, Principal motivated the students to participate in such cultural activities. On this occasion the girls from Secondary and Sr. Secondary classes performed ‘Gidda’ and they enjoyed ‘Kikli’.
On this occasion Mehandi Competition, Turban Tying, Modeling, Gabroo of the Day, Mutiyar of the Day, Play on importance of the Teej Festival etc. were conducted.
In Mehandi Competition Riya Verma from class XI stood first, In Turban Tying Arshdeep Singh from class IX stood first, Sanmeet Singh from Nursery class declared as Gabroo of the Day and Simran from class IX, Kashika from class VII, Jaspreet Kaur from class II were declared as Mutiyar of the Day.
Speaking on the occasion Rajinder Sharma told the students about the importance of the day. On this occasion Shashi Sharma, In-charge cultural activities also motivated the students. She encouraged the children and told them about the ancient Indian Culture. She said that Teej refers to the third day that falls every month after the new moon (Amavasya), and the third day after the full moon night of every month. The monsoon festivals of Teej include Haryali Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej. In the end sweets and prizes were distributed among the students.
