Students ready to plant the saplings during Van Mahotsav celebration by Green Land Convent School |
Ludhiana, July 22, 2017 (Online News Ludhiana): Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated “Van Mahotsav”, a week-long festival of tree plantation with great aplomb and enthusiasm.
The focus of the celebrations was towards forming a personal contact between the students and trees through a process of experience, reflection and creation. Slogans exhibiting the importance of trees were put all around the school campus to sensitize the students about their responsibilities towards the environment.
To mark the celebrations, students and the teachers planted the saplings in the school compound and watered them, therefore reaffirming their school’s espousal towards environment friendly causes. They were acquainted with the significance and the need to plant trees. Students took part in plantation drive to practically experience the enjoyment of planting and nurturing the trees.
Adding more fervor to the proceedings and celebrations, the Greenknights took a pledge to adopt the saplings, water them, care for them and nurture them personally.
The Principal, Vijayata Rudhra addressed the students in the assembly and urged all to save the environment by planting one sapling to prevent further desertification of earth.
