Ludhiana, June 30, 2017 (Online News Ludhiana): Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising 13 different Associations (representing over 1000 Unaided Colleges of Punjab) urged Punjab Government to release 115 Crore of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) which has already been released by the Centre Govt. to Punjab.
A delegation of JAC comprising Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) and Spokesman, JAC, Charanjit Singh Walia, President, Nursing Association, Tarwinder Singh Raju, President, Doaba Unaided Colleges Association (DUCA), Raman Bhalla, Former Minister, Sukhmander Singh Chatha, Punjab Unaided Degree Colleges Association (PUDCA) met Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister of Punjab to follow up the release of pending PMS Funds.
Dr. Anshu Kataria while speaking said that Centre Government has already released 115 Crore to the Punjab Govt. He urged Badal to immediately release 115 Crore which is due towards Punjab Govt for SC students of Punjab.
Kataria further urged Badal that after the release of 115 Crore, Punjab Govt should pursue with the Centre Govt for the balance amount of 325 Crore for the year 2015-16 and 715 crore for 2016-17. He further requested Punjab Govt to also release 45 crore which is the state liability.
Tarwinder Singh Raju while speaking said that many states, including Himachal Pradesh, Bihar etc. reimburse the scholarship to the OBC students. Raju questioned when centre Govt has a policy to pay the scholarship for the OBC students then why it is not there in Punjab?
Apart from others various renowned educationists including Vipin Sharma, Cherry Goyal, Devinder Singh Bal, Sanjeev Chopra, Yudhvir Saini, Sukhjinder Singh and Yugmark Sharma were also present.
